Simply put, no. In the province of Ontario a Motor Vehicle Inspection must be done on any vehicle changing owners. The guidelines for an inspection are actually bare minimum standards. If a certificate is issued the vehicle is deemed roadworthy at the time of inspection. The certificate last for 36 days from the date of inspection. Do not rely on the certificate as meaning the vehicle is in excellent condition. Vehicle maintenance is not part of a motor vehicle inspection.
Protect yourself before you purchase a vehicle. Have a trusted shop thoroughly inspect the vehicle. This is called spending money to save money.
Remember people will not spend money on a vehicle they are selling especially on maintenance. Don’t buy a money pit. Have it checked out before you negotiate a price or buy it.
